Last night, Res Camp had their final banquet of the year. After a short skit in which Buckwheat Billy (Program Director Dan Elsen) conviced Dr. Elmo Zacko (Unit Leader Tim) not to sell HoneyRock ranch to Prospector Bob (Activities Coordinator Charlie). Once the ranch had been officially saved, campers celebrated by eating their meal in "True western style: no hands." When campers got thirsty, water was poured into their mouths from pitchers. After Banquet, campers filed outside for a longstanding HoneyRock tradition: Chief.

Today, amid the rest of their schedule, the Advance Camp girls have the opportunity to use the high ropes challenge course. Over the past three weeks, instructors Allie and Melissa have been guiding the girls through each of our challenge courses.
I had the pleasure of sitting in on the morning high ropes session where two groups of Advance Camp girls took turns trying each of the obstacle courses along with a partner. After they’d completed the courses, they had the opportunity to get off the course by using the zip-line. When everyone had finished the course, Allie and Melissa sat down with the girls and debriefed the session. The girls talked about how the course had been, “Exciting, scary, fun, & challenging” and how it had taught them important lessons about teamwork.

Yesterday, durring the afternoon activity period, I had the pleasure of photographing several different groups of Res Campers. I was able to sit in on crafts, sailing, kayacking, canoeing, climbing, and mountain biking. Special thanks to instructors Rebekah, Claire, Lauren, Joey, Jon, and Ryan for letting me sit in on your classes!
While I was photographing Res Camp boys, the Res Camp girls were leaving for their overnight trip. They will return tomorrow afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them as they hike and camp.
